The Cost of Advocacy Services
Exceptional Advocacy realizes that advocacy services can be very expensive. Our company believes in making services accessible as much as possible. We believe that "life happens" and can work with you on due dates and payment schedule as needed.

Hiring an advocate is more than someone simply "showing up to IEP meetings". You should be wary of any advocate who does not ask for and review copies of evaluations, IEPs, or other information about your child or school. Remember that IEP stands for "individualized education plan". This means that each student is an individual and has individual needs. You want an advocate who is familiar with the specific needs of your child and can help you work with the school to best support them.

You are hiring us to help you with a few things:
-
Making sense of the IEP, evaluation, and eligibility processes
-
Help you have a voice during the meeting that is heard and respected
-
Help you learn how to collect data, keep records, and understand them
-
How to use that data to support your requests
-
Understand school district policies, state regulations, and federal laws about the education of students with disabilities, and how these tie together.
-
Help you hold the school district accountable and do what they say they will do
-
Attend IEP meetings or 504 meetings to facilitate discussion of student needs

Our goal is to demystify the disability education process, and help you learn how to advocate for your child to improve their education outcomes.
In order to accomplish this goal, we bill you for any time spent writing or responding to an email, a text message, a phone call, reviewing records or regulations, and analyzing data for your case,
Exceptional Advocacy invoices itemized descriptions of the time spent preparing your child's case and are happy to explain further anything that does not make sense to you.
Currently, our rate is $50 an hour.

Our services do include either virtual or in person attendance at school meetings by an advocate (throughout Virginia). We can attend virtually in other localities.
